“Artists have been interested in distorting portraits for centuries; allowing them to explore different subjects and ideas within their artwork. Today, the theme continues to inspire and intrigue artists of all backgrounds, experimenting with subjects related to modern, real world problems. The lines of reality and imagination become blurred within the theme of distorted portraiture. I want the viewer think about what they see in my art, whilst trying to figure out what kind of person I am. In a world where portraits are so commonplace as to risk being ignored, the viewer is forced to look again at the image presented, and to decide what is real and what has been disrupted. Both reality and imagination exist within the theme of distorted portraiture and are pivotal aspects of both the art world and the worlds and lives of artists themselves, with this decorative progression showing no signs of slowing down.”
