Volunteer

Help us support the arts and gain new skills for yourself

Our aim at all times is to hold an intriguing, engaging and diverse range of events and exhibitions throughout the year. To do this, we need a strong team of volunteers to help us carry out all of our programmes and activities.

So why not come forward and be a volunteer at the Heseltine Gallery? Volunteering can help you make friends, learn new skills, further your career, and even feel happier and healthier in yourself.

You don’t have to make a long-term commitment to the gallery or take a huge amount of time out of your busy day. There are also a wide range of volunteer roles you can perform, as listed below.

I quickly felt connected with the Heseltine Gallery and feel proud to support it and see it develop as a local community hub for the arts, as well as seeing it benefit student education at the school.

Poster distribution

This involves distributing posters and other marketing material for exhibitions and events 6 to 8 times a year in your local area.

Social media

Keep our social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter up to date with all the latest news about our exhibitions and events. Someone with experience in writing social media posts would be preferable.

Stewarding

Be part of our team who help with exhibition stewarding during special weekend opening hours, Saturdays and/or Sundays, 11am to 3pm. You will need to be confident talking to visitors about the gallery and the exhibitions featured.

Exhibition installation

Become part of our special team who install and take down exhibitions up to six times a year. If you’re interested in working in arts management, exhibition design, curating and visual arts practice, this is an exciting opportunity. It would also be good to have practical skills like using a variety of tools.
