“One of the purposes of art is to remind the viewer of the beauty that exists in the world around them, prompting them to re-evaluate things that might otherwise be taken for granted or overlooked. Art can help the viewer understand the world and can allow them to experience things that might otherwise not be possible to see. I am particularly interested in creating interesting and aesthetic work, and focusing on the textures of certain things distinctly appeals to me. I like to create work like this which makes the viewer feel like they could reach out, touch the paper and actually feel the texture I have created, fooling the viewer’s mind into thinking that a two-dimensional recreation of a surface is actually the original texture itself. I hope that the work I have created offers an insight into who I am as a person, without writing it out with words.”
