Celebrating One Year Online

How do you run an art gallery that no one can visit? When The Heseltine Gallery had to close because of the pandemic, we faced this dilemma. One year ago today we launched our website www.theheseltinegallery.org.uk and unbeknownst to us, this would be the answer to an otherwise impossible question.

It is important to adapt and evolve when faced with challenges; so, like an artist, we put our metaphorical paintbrush down, went back to the drawing board and rethought. This year, we have embraced the internet and social media more than ever - a life-line for reaching our audiences. Our website has allowed us to create and display five online exhibitions and start an arts blog, whilst on social media our sense of community has prospered, an integral part of the gallery.

We promise to be back for in-person exhibitions and events as soon as safely possible. However, though galleries have been closed, this year has shown that art and creativity never stops. Thank you to those behind the scenes, working hard to make this all happen, and the artists and supporters who have interacted with, and contributed to, our online endeavours.

Our aim is to grow our thriving community and share superb local art with as many people as possible. Help us to achieve this by sharing our social media pages with fellow art lovers! Follow us @theheseltinegallery.
